Restless Voices: The eBook
Since I started Restless Voices a fair few people have asked me whether I was going to do a book. Well the answer's "no". It's too much trouble... even if there was any real interest out there (other than my ego)... it doesn't feel right.
Going underground
Restless Voices is an underground kind of thing, an aggressively non-commercial kind of thing... so here's what I've done. I've put 100 or so stories that I like into a PDF, and written a brief essay about the whole experience. If you like RV you might like this, if you don't you definitely won't.
It's not Shakespeare... obviously. Put it this way... I'm a guy who can only be bothered to write stories 140 characters long... how good is any kind of book going to be?
Here's a little taste of the book
I hear voices. Not all the time, but often.
This is how it works. I’ll see something in the street and a voice in my head whispers a story.
Look. She’s trying to be normal... but there’s a half-empty vodka bottle in her bag, and a knife. She’s on her way to meet the devil.
Or perhaps...
See that man? He’s sick with worry. His dog won’t stop whining. He thinks it’s in pain, but he’s wrong... it smells his cancer.
And on and on and on....
See what I mean. Voices. Rude, sweary, sly, cynical, funny, violent and yes, restless.
In 2007, for reasons you’ll understand if you get to my confession, I began writing them down.

Restless Voices is a free download (obviously). Plus it's small enough to fit in your pocket. Lovely.
Share the word... carefully
Do me a favour... if you like it, tell someone. Tweet it, post it, blog it... whatever. It's just 250k, so it's easy to send via email. Hell, you can even print parts of it out. Or, you can just link to it.
But be sensitive. Some of the stories contain bad language, some violence, some sex and yes, some drugs. If the person is a minor, or easily offended... get them something from Amazon instead.

Rolling your own
Restless Voices is published under the Creative Commons (see below), which means you can pretty much do what you want with this stuff providing you mention me, you share whatever you make, and you aren't trying to make money. But hey, you've seen the stuff... how likely is that last one.
